It's Curtains for "Curtains"

Final show--after all the rehearsals, pictures (this is Madeleine with her friend Lucy Bergstrom), cast parties and the hard work it's now over. I must say, it was fun to watch Madeleine over the past several weeks and see how hard she worked. Her commitment and enthusiasm were apparent in each performance. We are proud of her and amazed at her courage to try new things and put herself "out there".

We really liked the play and attended three of the four nights. It tells the story of a play working out its kinks in Boston before heading to Broadway during the golden era of musicals. On the opening night the star is murdered during the final bows and then the police come to investigate. Since the entire cast is quarentined by the police they spend the time working on the play. So, it's sort of a play within a play murder mystery whodunit with some great set pieces. The detective gets involved in improving the play as he investigates the murder. Madeleine had several costume changes and was a part of all the dancing.

Big Saloon dance scene--that away!

This was the big romantic dance with the detective and his girlfriend that was about as Old Broadway as it gets.

Big riverboat scene--Madeleine is one of the mermaids--look for her on the back row with the long pony tail--she's usually in the middle.

The big final scene of the play within the play (KANSASUSA) with Madeleine on the left side. Then it's time for the final bows and all the applause--Madeleine is in the middle of the stage in the blue dress.
